A strict Mediterranean diet has also been scientifically shown to help people maintain a sound mind as they age. And the stricter you stick to this type of diet, the more beneficial the mental advantages seem to be as you age. 

With a Mediterranean diet, you’ll primarily eat things like fish, vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, nuts, and oils. You’ll want to start avoiding red meats if you’re going to stick strictly to a more Mediterranean diet. So if you’re at all worried about dementia in your future, starting this type of diet now could be a great idea.
